- 05I offer talk therapy as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I use a client-centered approach to adapt to the client’s therapeutic needs. My preferred methods are a combination of: Narrative Therapy Narrative therapy focuses on the stories we tell about our lives. Together, we explore how these stories share your identity and experiences, and work to re-author your stories in ways with a new perspective. Narrative Therapy can help you: - Make sense of your life experiences and how such experiences shaped you. - Reshape how you see yourself through the lens you view life. - Separate your identity from your past experiences. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) CBT examines the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. CBT helps you identify unhelpful thinking patterns and develop practical strategies to respond differently. CBT can help you: - Develop practical tools to manage stress, anxiety, or other emotional struggles. - Identify and change your unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours. - Work towards your goals in a structured manner, where you apply the skills learned in session to your daily life. Psychodynamic Therapy Psychodynamic therapy explores how past experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns may be influencing your current thoughts and feelings. By gaining insight into your past processes, you can understand why you have been responding in the way you have, and you can alter your patterns for meaningful change. Psychodynamic therapy can help you: - Gain insight into how past experiences and relationships shape your current feelings and behaviours. - Identify reoccurring patterns in your life and why those patterns occur. - Develop long-term, meaningful personal growth and change. Strengths-Based Therapy Strengths-based therapy focuses on what is already working in your life. Rather than centering on the problems, we identify your skills, resources, and reliance and build upon what is already working to support growth, confidence, and positive change. Strengths-based therapy can help you: - Recognize your strengths and build upon those existing strengths. - Create change by focusing on what is already working and building upon skills, supports, and resources you already have. - Those who do are not looking to fix the past, but focus on the present moment. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy EMDR is a structured therapy that helps people process and reduce the emotional impact of distressing or traumatic memories. It uses guided attention techniques—often including bilateral stimulation such as eye movements, tapping, or sounds—to help the brain reprocess difficult experiences so they feel less overwhelming and more integrated over time. Unlike talk therapies that focus primarily on discussion, EMDR focuses on how memories are stored in the brain and helps reduce the emotional “charge” attached to them, allowing clients to think about past events in a more neutral or manageable way. EMDR can help you: - Processing trauma or painful experiences that make you feel “stuck” in the past. - Relief from symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or panic. - A structured approach that does NOT require you to go into detail about events of the past. - Help you reduce emotional triggers, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, and other distressing symptoms.

- 09While phone calls are available for 15-minute consultations, I do not offer 60-minute therapy sessions by phone. Research suggests that a significant portion of communication is non-verbal, including facial expressions, gestures, and body language. Therapy is deeply rooted in relationship and connection, thus the ability to observe and respond to body language is an integral part of the therapeutic process. Phone sessions limit access to these important cues, which can impact the depth and effectiveness of the work we do together.
If you are in crisis or in immediate need of mental health services, please call 911 or 811 for emergency care.
